The Thelephorales (Basidiomycota, Fungi) form a monophyletic group with approximately 177 accepted species. The Thelephorales are cosmopolitan and encompass mainly ectomycorrhizal species. Unlike many fungal lineages, evolutionary trends within and between members of Thelephorales still remain incompletely assessed. Additionally, most phylogenetic investigations on fungi have failed to include Thelephorales (Agaricomycetes, Basidiomycota) constitute a monophyletic ectomycorrhizal fungal group that encompasses presently a total of 177 species and two families. Though they have a worldwide distribution, Thelephorales from the tropics are scantily documented.

P. tristis is an ectomycorrhizal, corticioid fungus whose name is frequently assigned to collections of basidiomata as well as root tip and soil samples from a wide range of habitats and hosts across the northern hemisphere. Despite this, its identity is unclear; eight heterotypic taxa have in major reviews of the species been considered synonymous with or morphologically similar to P. tristis

order Accepted Name authority: UKSI Establishment means: Native The order Thelephorales is a widespread group of many thousands of species of ecologically important, ectomycorrhizal fungi, of which only a fraction have been described to date. Most species are corticioid (skin-like) and form complexes of morphologically similar, closely related species. eesti: Lehternahkiselaadsed 日本語: イボタケ目 lietuvių: Karpininkiečiai polski: Chropiatkowce русский: Телефоровые pseudotomentella larsenii sp. nov.
